[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Pit
Age: at least 25+ (in Angel years!!!!! and he spent a lot of those years out of comission because lol nintendo) but he looks about 14-15
Gender: Male
Canon: Kid Icarus: Uprising
Timeline: The beginning of chapter 25 in the game, right as he's about to square off against Hades.

Character History:

HERE THERE BE SPOILERS.

Pit's story in Uprising is told through chapters- there are twenty-five in all. Each chapter is comprised of an air battle, a land battle, and a boss fight. I'm gonna break things down by chapter just to make this a little easier. A couple chapters will be combined because they take place in the same general area.

Chapter 1 (The Return of Palutena)- Obviously, since it's the first chapter, this is where we're introduced to Pit and the goddess Palutena. It's revealed that Medusa, who has been asleep for 25 years, was revived and is ready to wreak havoc again, and it's up to Pit to fight the dark army and make his way to her. Palutena also mentions Pit can't fly on his own- she grants him the power of flight, though it only lasts five minutes at a time. He fights in the air and then on land, then faces off against Twinbellows, 'the underworld's faithful watchdog.'

Chapter 2 (Magnus and the Dark Lord)- Pit's next mission is to defeat Dark Lord Gaol. He battles through a storm, lands at Gaol's castle, and meets an interesting human named Magnus who fights with him and has a history with Gaol (who turns out to be a woman encased in full body armor).

Chapter 3 (Heads of the Hewdraw)- Medusa's pissed about Gaol's defeat, so she takes the fight up to the sky realm in the form of the Hewdraw, a dragon with three heads. Once Pit takes out all the heads, Palutena tells him they can survive without a body so he has to go to the surface and defeat the heads.

Chapter 4 (The Reaper's Line of Sight)- After defeating Hewdraw, Palutena sends Pit to the Reaper citadel in search of another of Medusa's underlings, Pandora. Turns out she isn't there, but Pit has to fight off Reapers anyway (the final boss is the Great Reaper). The Reapers have been harvesting a lot of souls lately, since Medusa is on the rise again.

Chapter 5 (Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit)- As the chapter title suggests, Palutena sends Pit to deal with Pandora directly after failing to locate her in the Reaper's fortress (they discover the Reapers hid the entrance to the labyrinth in a space pocket). Since Pandora is the goddess of calamity, getting to her is a real pain in the ass since her citadel is full of illusions (which Pit takes every opportunity to comment on). Pandora's valued because she has the Mirror of Truth, a powerful relic is responsible for creating Dark Pit, who appears when Pit breaks the Mirror. Dark Pit is basically the embodiment of Pit's dark side, who also happens to have Pandora's power in him.

Chapter 6 (Dark Pit)- Well, now that Dark Pit exists, of course Pit has to attempt to take him out. Even though the two Pits fight each other, the Mirror broke before the copying process could finish, so Dark Pit doesn't serve the Underworld Army (despite having Pandora's power). Pit and Dark Pit fight three times, and once Pit defeats him, Dark Pit flies off and Palutena tells Pit to let him go.

Chapter 7 (The Seafloor Palace)- Next stop, Seafloor Palace to square off against Thanatos. Poseidon lends a hand in getting there. Once Pit defeats Thanatos, he picks up a gem that serves as his entrance into the Underworld.

Chapter 8 (The Space Pirate Ship)- It's a Pirate Ship. In space. (The Galactic Sea, to be exact.) Pit's after the Three Sacred Treasures that were stolen by the pirates. Big boss here is the Space Kraken, which drops the Sacred Treasures upon defeat. They come in a giant box.

Chapter 9 (Medusa's Final Battle)- MEDUSA FIGHT. And a huge psych-out. Because Medusa isn't the big bad. Turns out Hades, the God of the Underworld, is. He resurrected Medusa specifically for Pit to fight and is behind the entire Underworld invasion. Pit and Palutena are understandably displeased.

Chapter 10 (The Wish Seed)- Hades is after the Wish Seed, a seed that can, YOU GUESSED IT, grant any wish no matter how outlandish or crazy it is. (Pit says he would wish to fly on his own.) Palutena sends Pit to head Hades off and get to the Seed first, in a land full of active volcanoes. A Phoenix is guarding the Wish Seed. Though...the Seed's a fake. Pit defeats the Phoenix and destroys the Seed, and Hades takes the opportunity to make a world-wide announcement that the Seed was liberated rather than destroyed, and encourages everyone to fight each other for it. Pit wants to believe the people won't be so easily deceived, but Palutena knows better.

Chapter 11 (Viridi, Goddess of Nature) & Chapter 12 (Wrath of the Reset Bomb)- Palutena was right and the people are going apeshit fighting each other for the nonexistent Wish Seed. While Pit's in the middle of the air battle, a huge bomb falls from the sky and lands on a warring city, completely destroying it. Viridi, the Goddess of Nature, was behind the attack. Her bombs are called reset bombs, and they basically revert the places they land back to their original states (sort of...). As far as Viridi is concerned, humans have no respect for nature or any other living thing, and they deserve to be destroyed. Pit defeats Viridi's first minion, the Cragalanche, and is then informed by Viridi that her next reset bomb is almost complete. The fight then moves to Viridi's bomb factory, which Pit successfully destroys, though Viridi isn't prepared to give up just yet.

Chapter 13 (The Lunar Sanctum)- Next, Pit heads spaceward to the Lunar Sanctum, where one of Viridi's generals, Arlon, awaits. He's a very well-spoken dude who specializes in illusions and trickery, and he tends to get TMI (which Pit doesn't hesitate to point out). Pit defeats Arlon and destroys the sanctum.

Chapter 14 (The Lightning Battle)- Hades is back, and he's appointed Thanatos (remember him?) as a general in this fight. Viridi's forces are out too, and Phosphora is her general. So now Pit has to contend with both armies at once, while they are fighting each other. Phosphora takes Thanatos out, and then it's left to Pit to tackle Phosphora at the Thunder Cloud Temple. Pit dispatches her and the Temple crumbles.

Chapter 15 (Mysterious Invaders), Chapter 16 (The Aurum Hive) & Chapter 17 (The Aurum Brain)- Pit's dragged out of bed early by Palutena because an alien ship is hovering over the earth, ready to attack. These are the Aurum, and they behave like insects. The Sun God Pyrrhon shows up to offer his assistance, and Hades and Viridi also offer their minions. Joint effort! Pit takes out one of the ships' core, and Pyrrhon gives him a lift out. From here, Pit sets out to fight the Aurum fleet, and touches down at the Aurum Hive. (It's interesting to note that most of the enemies encountered here are copies of Underworld troops.) Pit's objective is to destroy the power generator. Once that's taken care of, he finally moves on to the Aurum Brain, which is housed in a giant mothership. Pyrrhon accompanies Pit to destroy it, however it turns out his motives weren't necessarily good. He absorbs the blowback and becomes a 'super god plus' (his own words ok), and the Aurum minions change color to symbolize their shifted alleigance. Viridi attempts to drop a reset bomb on the mothership, but Pyrrhon stops her. He also prevents Palutena from getting Pit out before his five minutes of flight are up. Just when it seems like Pit will plummet to his death, Viridi's soldiers catch him on a platform. Palutena's provide another platform, and Pit fights his way inside the mothership, where Pyrrhon (who seems as if he's being controlled by the Aurum brain) is the boss. Pit defeats him, and Palutena pulls Pit out before he can be carried off with the ship.

Chapter 18 (The Ring of Chaos)- Pit wakes up with the word 'Chaos Kin' in his head. His soul, it turns out, has been trapped in a ring, and a little girl picks it up and puts it on. Pit wills her to move, and she does. Pit notices a town ahead that shows signs of distress; he also notices Palutena's troops, the centurions, are present. The little girl trips and loses the ring, and it is picked up by a dog. Pit, controlling the dog, continues toward the town, and when he enters, he sees a figure flying through the sky- it's him (his body, at least). Once Pit reaches the square, he catches sight of an old friend, Magnus, who is fighting the centurions. The Pit dog jumps on Magnus's head and drops the ring in his hand. Magnus puts it on, and Pit is able to converse with him, and learns what happened after the Aurum battle- apparently, Pit, Palutena, and the rest were missing for a long time, leaving the huamns open to attack from the Underworld. When Pit and Palutena reappeared, they started fighting against the humans instead of for them. The boss is Pit's body, and once Pit/Magnus defeat it, Magnus puts the ring on Pit, and it breaks. Pit calls for Palutena to give him the power to fly back to the heavens, but instead of Palutena answering the call, Viridi does. Skyworld is completely different from the way it used to be, dark and desolate, and Palutena's temple has taken a beating. Palutena herself appears before Pit much the same way Medusa did at the start of the game, and her personality has taken quite the turn- she says she's sick of protecting humans, and sick of Pit, too. Pit is convinced something is influencing Palutena and he's determined to find out what.

Chapter 19 (The Lightning Chariot)- IN WHICH PIT GETS SHOT OUT OF A CANON AND RIDES AROUND IN A LIGHTNING CHARIOT. In...space. Again. But anyway, Viridi tells Pit the only way he can help Palutena is if he has access to the Lightning Chariot. Hades is after it, too (though he's really just being a nuisance because he can). Pit has to make his way through the Chariot Master's tower in order to procure it. And. It's a huge-ass tower. HUGE. But anyway, at the end of the battle, the Chariot Master gladly hands the Lightning Chariot over to Pit and then dies.

Chapter 20 (Palutena's Temple)- So that Chaos Kin that Pit remembered in Chapter 18? That's what has control of Palutena. Pit takes the Lightning Chariot back to Palutena's temple and makes his way to her on foot. Once he reaches her, he has to fight the Chaos Kin while trying not to hurt Palutena. Pit seemingly defeats it and Palutena is free of its influence for a moment, but then the Chaos Kin rises up again, steals Palutena's soul and turns her to stone, then rips open a hole in the sky that leads to the Chaos Vortex. Dark Pit arrives with the Lightning Chariot and Viridi brings them both back to Skyworld to regroup before chasing the Chaos Kin into the Vortex.

Chapter 21 (The Chaos Vortex)- IN WE GO. Not only does Pit have to fight off monsters and creepy disembodied hands, but shadows of himself as well. Also fake Chaos Kins. In order to get Palutena's soul back, Pit and Dark Pit have to fight off wave after wave of enemies. Once the real Chaos Kin reveals itself, both Pits take it down and Palutena's soul is restored. However, one last bit of the Chaos Kin's power remains, and it wraps around Dark Pit's ankle, dragging him down to what could be his death. Despite the fact that his five minutes of flight have already been used up, Pit dives after him and begs Viridi to help him fly, a wish she grants reluctantly. Pit catches Dark Pit but his wings burn up in the process, and he is close to death.

Chapter 22 (Scorched Feathers)- Dark Pit heads into the heart of the Underworld, the City of Souls, on behalf of Pit, whose soul is in limbo. He encounters Hades, who acts like his usual trollish self, and it's revealed that a) some souls get eaten and b) Hades uses souls to create his army. TOTAL NICE GUY, THAT HADES. Dark Pit battles through enemies and finally reaches the Rewind Spring, a spring that can turn back time and erase negative effects on a body (but you've gotta be careful about how long you soak in it, or you could erase yourself from existence). Just as Dark Pit lands, he is accosted by Pandora. He seemingly defeats her, but Pandora dives into the spring and reverts back to her younger, human-looking form and Dark Pit has to fight her again. Once he defeats her, he dips Pit into the spring and Pit is restored to his original glory.

Chapter 23 (The Lord of the Underworld)- This is it. THE FINAL BATTLE!!! Actually no. Not really. Pit does fight Hades but then he winds up getting swallowed. By Hades. So the rest of the chapter is played out inside of Hades' body. The boss is Hades' heart, which Pit destroys (though Hades is still kicking!). Dark Pit arrives with the Lightning Chariot to whisk Pit away.

Chapter 24 (The Three Trials)- The goal of this chapter is to seek out Dyntos, the God who created the Three Sacred Treasures, and beseech him to make a new, ultimate weapon for Pit. Dyntos will only consent to this if Pit passes his three trials. For the first, Pit re-defeats the Phoenix, the Cragalanche, and the Space Kraken. Then, he must defeat Gaol and Magnus, who were asked to work together by Dyntos. A Pseudo-Palutena rounds out this trial. The last trial is against Dyntos himself, who fights in the Great Sacred Treasure. Once Pit defeats him, it's on to the final battle of the game.

Chapter 25 (The War's End)- Unlike earlier false-starts, this is the real last battle against Hades. Pit battles him in the Great Sacred Treasure (which is mostly pulverized), and in the last half of the fight, Medusa returns and actually helps Pit, though Hades easily destroys her once again. After this, Viridi offers Pit the power of flight. Palutena charges a giant laser that Pit shoots through Hades, defeating him. PIT SAVES THE DAY, NOT TO MENTION THE WORLD. And the people go wild.

AND NOW THIS SECTION IS COMPLETE REJOICE.

Character Personality:

The most important thing to get out of the way first is that Pit constantly breaks the 4th wall. In fact, the 4th wall may as well not exist. He knows he's a character in a game, and he knows he's been out of comission for a while. Twenty-five years, actually. He makes references to the original Kid Icarus game often- a lot of the baddies in Uprising are the same, and some of his weapons are the same also. And, because he's a Nintendo character, he talks about Nintendo games and characters as well (NINTENDOGS ANYONE?). He may as well be a Nintendo spokesperson. Angel. Nintendo spokesangel. So. There is that. (I should note the 4th walling is limited to himself and other Nintendo franchises! Though permission will always be asked from other players if he recognizes their characters.)

BUT ANYWAY! As the Goddess Palutena's most trusted general, Pit is fiercely loyal to her and she to him. When she was hijacked by the Chaos Kin, Pit's faith in her was so unshakable that he gave his all to saving her despite the horrible things she said and did to him and to humanity. Which is saying a lot, because Pit always, always fights in humanity's corner. His unflinching faith in Palutena also extends to human beings- after all, humans are the only creatures capable of having real heart (his words!!) and he owes it to them to provide his aid however often it's needed. Pit's got a pretty big heart, himself. This is the kid who willingly burned up his own wings to save his negative mirror image even though Dark Pit had served as an enemy and a hindrance since his creation. This is also the kid who resigned himself to working with Viridi when she had been an enemy as well. Do what you gotta do, right? If that means teaming up with former enemies or inflicting harm upon himself to save them, so be it. He has a strong sense of justice that is well nigh impossible to sway, and even when the chips aren't stacked in his favor he doggedly presses on. Hades in particular is despicable to him due to the way the God of the Underworld treats souls as playthings and food, on occasion. That's just not acceptable under Pit's watch.

And going back to Dark Pit for a moment- it's interesting to look at the differences between Pit and Dark Pit, since Dark Pit is basically everything Pit is not (but could have been, had he chosen to allow his darker side to shine through). Dark Pit *can* fly on his own, and rather than serving humanity or a goddess, he serves himself alone. He does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and isn't beholden to anyone. Granted, because he sprang from Pit he still, albeit grudgingly, lends a hand when events in the game escalate. (In a way, you could say part of Pit's desire to save Dark Pit was out of a strange sense of self-preservation.)

Other things of note! Pit's a chatterbox. It's almost like he has no idea how to be quiet. There's commentary for everything, all the time...Except for a few moments during his ascent of the Lightning Tower- Viridi's not the same as Palutena! -and when he was inside of Hades' body and no longer had Palutena to guide him. He becomes rather unsure and loses some of his luster, though he doesn't remain completely silent. He speaks aloud in an affectation of Palutena's voice, telling himself things he imagined she would say. (So yeah, it is possible to wear him down- he throws himself into fights even when the enemies are coming at him nonstop, yet he's at his most confident when he knows Palutena is watching -but he always finds a way to keep moving forward.) He has an unflinching fondness for corny quips (when he took down the Space Kraken, he yelled 'CALAMARIED!' ok), and at times he pulls a Sailor Moon, complete with poses and dramatic declarations of impending doom (to be rained down on his enemies, of course). He's the kind of person you don't want with you on a long trip because he'll ask, repeatedly, if you are there yet. He will also complain- he's good at it! (But even if he gripes and drags his feet he gets the job done eventually.) He enjoys attention and is often a ham, he's optimistic to a fault, and he's no stranger to reckless actions and melodrama. He's been known to burst into spontaneous song. He's an idealist. He's persistent, sometimes annoyingly so.

And his greatest wish? To fly on his own, without any help from the gods. (Which is also a subtle statement about his slight insecurity when Palutena isn't around. He's more than capable without her but until he can truly fly on his own he won't be able to realize his full potential, because he's still reliant upon her.)

Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:

Pit's very agile and his reflexes are usually quick as a whip. He uses a variety of different weapons in the game and he's decent with all of them (though he's the most skilled with the bow and arrow). Depending on the weapon, he can handle long and close ranged fights, and he's pretty adaptable to whatever situation gets thrown at him. AND I DON'T KNOW, I THINK SPONTANEOUS SONG IS AN ABILITY. Thinking up quips on the fly counts, too. His brain runs a mile a minute.

Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:

Well, his wings are more or less useless without a god or goddess around to grant him the power of flight. And he makes it known at one point during the game that he never learned how to read, which is definitely a problem! His faith in people is sometimes misplaced (he truly believed humanity as a whole would never fall for Hades's little scheme with the wish seed, but...he was very, very wrong about that). His recklessness gets him into sticky situations that don't always have easy outs. His greatest weakness, however, is the fact that he's never truly been on his own before (discounting that time inside Hades). He's used to being a soldier, used to hearing commands and reacting to them...as a soldier and a fighter he's excellent. But put him in the real world and tell him he's got to cook and clean and keep an apartment together? He's going to have no idea what to do with himself. Or...with his living space.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign? Since he really doesn't have any supernatural abilities, he probably won't keep any of them aside from fast reaction time and good battle sense. As mentioned before, his wings are useless without the power of flight anyway, so...that's not an issue!

What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? I do hope someone teaches him how to read while he's in Death City, so that's a weakness lost. And I imagine he'll learn how to live on his own to some degree....though he may cause a lot of property damage and engage in plenty of shenanigans to get there. BUT IT'S GONNA TAKE A WHILE. I can see him being more prone to injury in Death City as opposed to his home world.

The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?

To keep things lively. To serve as another member of the gung-ho fighter contingent- Pit feels very strongly about souls and he won't stand for them being mistreated or abused at the hands of evil (he may even object to some Death City practices concerning souls....)

And honestly, what's not amusing about an angel who can't fly?

If your character has difficulty verbally communicating or can’t verbally communicate at all (mute or non-humanoid), elaborate on how this will be treated in the game. n/a

[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]

Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?

The obvious choice for Pit would've been Meister, considering he wields a lot of different weapons in Uprising (and fuses weapons to create *new* weapons), but I wanted to take a different tack. You could say he's almost been groomed to serve as a Weapon, since Palutena (or, in her absense, Viridi) is always close, giving Pit suggestions or advice or commands- he fights with his own weapons, but he *is* Palutena's weapon, in a way. It'll be interesting to play out his reaction to becoming a real, physical Weapon and engaging in a partnership somewhat similar to the one he has with Palutena.

What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?

Pit's signature weapon has always been a bow (in pretty much every incarnation, from the original Kid Icarus game to his Smash Bros. appearances), so it's fitting for him to become one himself. It looks just like Meteor Bow pictured here: http://kidicarus.wikia.com/wiki/Meteor_Bow

What is your character’s Weapon Ability?

The bow is close enough to a gun-type Weapon, and therefore the arrows it shoots will be composed of soul wavelength. At its most basic, the bow can fire a single arrow at a time with slight homing capabilities. As resonance and experience increase, the bow will be able to fire up to three arrows in one powerful triple-shot attack that mimics the effects of a meteor strike, with enhanced homing capabilities. This attack cannot be sustained continually- the bow will need time to recharge before the triple-shot can be used again. (Anywhere from one to four minutes, depending on experience and resonance.) The bow is best suited for medium to long-ranged combat, though it can double as a melee weapon if the Meister has to engage in a close-range fight.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives. hyper, optimistic, loyal, talkative, silly, determined

What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative. Pit's soul is fairly large and a bright, shiny golden color. Its mouth is fixed in a goofy grin and a white laurel wreath crown encircles the top of it (to match the one Pit himself wears).
